

The Vigna project seeks to address problems of great importance to Italian viticulture. In particular:
- To determine the information contained in the grape menome;
- The characterisation and evaluation of Italian germplasm;
- To identify genetic systems involved in the response of the plant to serious microbial pathogens including Plasmopara viticola, Botrytis cinerea e Uncinula necator;
- To study rh genetic and physiological parameters that regulate the maturation of the grape berry and its qualatitive characteristics;
- To characterize the genetic and environmental mechanisms that determine and modulate reproductive processes.
To reach these objectives, the VIGNA project unites Italian research groups with expertise in Genomics, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Plant Pathology and Bioinformatics
